1) seogwipo

alright people i am back and running. i am currently sitting down for a blog-writing-marathon on my day off. the first of which will be about the town where i live, seogwipo.

s-e-o-g-w-i-p-o sounds more like sew-gee-poe.

seogwipo is a town of about 80,000 people. it is famous for tangerines. and for being the most beautiful place in korea. about 15 minutes outside of town is this resort area called Jungmun. It is where alot of Koreans go on their honeymoons. There is a very fashionable phenomenon is Korean that has been dubbed "couples tees"...this is when Korean couples wear matching t-shirts, usually with something funny written on it in English or in some great pastel color. they are generally worn for a 100-day anniversary or, say, on one's honeymoon. Well, couples tees are all over the Jungmun beach and its resorts. Everyone is happy in love and wearing the same t-shirt.

i really like it here. i live about a 11 minute walk from the main rotary of seogwipo and about a 15 minute walk from my school (which is just on the other side of the rotary). the town is small and our students are everywhere, but it is also the type of place where i can go into the office store and charge some things to my schools account without a number or an i.d. or anything just because they know me. it reminds me of gambier in a korean island sort of way.
